During his recent visit to Dubai, promoting his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), Pacquiao revealed his upcoming fight plans. “I’m planning to fight here in Dubai next year. We’re currently preparing for it, and I’m searching for an opponent. It might be Mikey Garcia,” Pacquiao told Khaleej Times during a meet-and-greet session at Global Village on Friday.

Basketball in Dubai: MPBL Finals

Pacquiao’s MPBL will host the first two games of its 2024 national finals at Al Nasr Club on December 1 and 3. Pacquiao will also visit Riverland on November 30 to connect with his fellow Filipinos in Dubai. “I am grateful for this invitation and hope people come to watch and cheer for my team. We even have an exhibition game planned,” Pacquiao added.

Manny Pacquiao Sports Academy Set to Open in Dubai

Pacquiao announced the launch of the ‘Manny Pacquiao Sports Academy’ in Dubai, slated for the first quarter of 2025. “The academy will focus not only on boxing but on nurturing young talents in various sports. I’m excited to bring this vision to life in Dubai,” said Pacquiao.

A Legacy Beyond the Ring

With a career spanning over two decades and an impressive record of 62 wins, seven losses, and two draws, Pacquiao remains the only boxer to win world titles in eight weight divisions. Life Beyond Sports: Politics and Business

Pacquiao continues to juggle multiple roles, including his political ambitions. He will be running for a Senate seat in the Philippines in the upcoming elections. “If given the chance, I’ll return to the Senate. During my previous tenure, I passed the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Handbook to support Filipino workers abroad,” he shared. Pacquiao highlighted the importance of time management in balancing his responsibilities across sports, politics, business, and family.

Love for Dubai’s Culinary Delights

Pacquiao expressed his affection for Dubai’s rich culinary offerings. “I love the dates here—they’re packed with nutrients and provide an instant energy boost. I’ve yet to try the viral Dubai kunafa chocolate, but I plan to during this trip,” Pacquiao said with a smile.

With his deep admiration for Dubai and ambitious plans to expand his legacy, Pacquiao’s presence in the city is set to inspire fans and aspiring athletes alike.
