Dubai parking fee changes: What parking zone letters mean and how they affect costs

Dubai Parking Tariffs 2024: New Zones, Rates, and Rules

Starting next month, Dubai motorists must pay closer attention to parking zones and letter codes displayed on signboards. The letters – A, B, C, or D – significantly impact parking fees, with new tariffs set to take effect in April. Whether you are making a quick stop or parking for the entire day, understanding these changes will help you save money, avoid fines, and manage your parking duration efficiently.

Dubai’s Updated Public Parking System

Dubai’s public parking operator, Parkin, has introduced revised parking fees across the emirate, with premium parking zones and time-based tariffs. Premium parking spaces will be available in high-demand areas, with peak-hour charges of Dh6 per hour.

Understanding Dubai’s Parking Zone Letters

How do parking zones affect drivers?

Each parking zone in Dubai is identified by a three-digit number followed by a letter code (e.g., 232C). These letters impact the cost, type of parking, and subscription validity:

  • Cost Variations: Different zones have different tariffs for peak and off-peak hours. On-street parking (Zone A) is costlier than off-street parking (Zone D).

  • On-Street vs. Off-Street Parking: Zones A and C cover on-street parking in commercial areas, while Zones B and D apply to off-street parking lots with lower rates.

  • Daily Parking Rates: Zones B and D offer full-day parking options, ideal for long-term parking needs.

  • Parking Subscription Validity: Subscriptions cover roadside parking (Codes A & C) and plot parking (Codes B & D) but exclude areas like Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) and Dubai Silicon Oasis (Codes H, J, K).

Dubai Parking Timings: Peak vs. Off-Peak Hours

  • Off-Peak Hours: 10 AM – 4 PM and 8 PM – 10 PM

  • Peak Hours: 8 AM – 10 AM and 4 PM – 8 PM
