Dubai Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Parking Around Mosques During Ramadan
Dubai authorities have intensified efforts to prevent illegal parking around mosques, especially during Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers in the last ten days of Ramadan. The initiative aims to reduce congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow as thousands of worshippers gather across the city’s mosques.
The Dubai Police have urged motorists to park only in designated areas and adhere to traffic laws to avoid fines and contribute to a safer environment. “We call on the community to cooperate and park responsibly. Choosing the right parking spots can make a big difference in ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety for all worshippers,” stated an official from Dubai Police.
Authorities have noted a surge in illegal parking due to the increased number of worshippers in the final days of Ramadan. “Improper parking not only disrupts traffic but also poses safety risks. Our campaign focuses on awareness and strict enforcement to prevent such violations,” a Dubai Police representative explained.
As part of the campaign, extra patrols have been deployed across Dubai to monitor high-traffic areas around mosques, particularly during peak prayer times. Motorists who block roads, park on sidewalks, or obstruct traffic face strict penalties, including heavy fines and black points on their driving records.
- Parking in the middle of the road: Fine of Dh1,000 and six black points
- Blocking another vehicle: Fine of Dh500
- Parking at intersections, curbs, or sidewalks: Fine of Dh500
- Illegally parked vehicles may also be towed, leading to further inconvenience and penalties.
Dubai Police emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader initiative to maintain public order and pedestrian safety, particularly during Tahajjud prayers in the early hours of the morning.
Authorities have advised worshippers to arrive early and utilize designated parking spaces to prevent congestion. In addition to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Fujairah have also stepped up traffic monitoring around mosques, ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all worshippers.
Dubai’s commitment to organized traffic management during Ramadan reinforces its reputation as a city that prioritizes safety, discipline, and respect for religious practices.
