Ajman Police has introduced a 50% discount on traffic fines, effective from November 4 to December 15, 2024, providing Ajman drivers with an opportunity to settle their outstanding fines at a reduced rate. Announced via social media platform X, this discount applies to violations committed in Ajman before October 31. The initiative also includes the lifting of vehicle impoundments and the removal of traffic points, helping to ease the burden on motorists.
However, certain “aggravated violations” are excluded from this discount. These include reckless driving of light or heavy vehicles, truck drivers overtaking in restricted areas, exceeding the speed limit by more than 80km/h, and unauthorized vehicle modifications.
Ajman’s advanced, AI-operated monitoring system plays a key role in traffic safety enforcement, using smart cameras to detect violations like using a mobile phone while driving or failing to wear a seatbelt. Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, highlighted that this system is essential to reducing road accidents and enhancing safety for drivers and pedestrians alike. The use of smart systems to monitor traffic violations helps achieve high levels of road safety and prevents the risks associated with driving on an expired license.
Ajman Police emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic regulations. Under federal law, using a mobile phone while driving or any other distractions results in a fine of Dh400 and four black points on the license. Additionally, all passengers, including those in the rear seat, are required to wear seat belts. Failing to do so will result in the driver incurring a Dh400 fine and four black points.
