Former Australian Cricketer Stuart MacGill Found Guilty in Drug Supply Case
Former Australian Test cricketer Stuart MacGill has been found guilty in a Sydney court for knowingly taking part in the supply of cocaine. The verdict was delivered on Thursday after more than six hours of jury deliberation.
However, the 54-year-old was found not guilty of the more serious charge of commercial-scale drug supply.
MacGill’s Involvement in the Drug Case
Police alleged that MacGill introduced his personal cocaine dealer to an associate in 2021.
The two then organised a $200,000 drug deal, but MacGill was not directly involved in the transaction.
Despite this, the jury ruled that he knowingly took part in the supply of a prohibited drug.
Sentencing & Cricket Career
MacGill will be sentenced in May.
He played 44 Test matches for Australia between 1998 and 2008.
His career coincided with that of Shane Warne, one of the greatest spin bowlers in cricket history.
Dubai & Australia Cricket Connection
The case has sparked discussions in Dubai’s cricket community, where Australian players frequently participate in T20 leagues. With cricket being a popular sport in both Dubai and Australia, fans are closely following developments in MacGill’s case.
