Dubai, UAE – Sharjah Police have intensified efforts to combat distracted driving by deploying AI-powered smart cameras to catch reckless motorists. These high-tech systems detect drivers using mobile phones while on the road, posing a major risk to road safety in the UAE.


A recently shared video on X (formerly Twitter) highlights several cases of motorists texting, calling, and recording videos while driving. In response, Sharjah Police issued a strong warning, stating, “A moment of distraction can lead to disaster.” The message emphasizes that safe driving habits are essential to prevent accidents on Dubai and UAE roads.


Strict Penalties for Using Mobile Phones While Driving in the UAE

According to UAE traffic laws, using a mobile phone while driving is a serious violation. Offenders can be penalized through smart monitoring systems or direct enforcement by Dubai Police and Sharjah Police.

Authorities continue to remind motorists to avoid distractions such as browsing social media, taking photos, or making calls while driving, as these behaviors significantly increase the risk of serious accidents.
