Barrierless Parking Introduced at City Centre Deira and Soon at Mall of the Emirates
Dubai’s shopping experience is set to become even more seamless with the activation of barrierless parking at City Centre Deira, while Mall of the Emirates (MOE) is set to implement the system early next month. The announcement was confirmed by Majid Al Futtaim, one of Dubai’s leading retail conglomerates, to Khaleej Times.
Barrierless Parking at MOE
As part of the transition, traditional parking barriers at Mall of the Emirates have already been removed and replaced with advanced sensor technology in preparation for the official rollout in early February. This initiative is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to enhancing customer convenience across Dubai’s top shopping destinations.
Expanding the Smart Parking System
In October last year, Majid Al Futtaim announced its collaboration with Dubai-based parking operator Parkin to introduce barrierless parking at three major malls: Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif. The state-of-the-art parking system is expected to facilitate seamless entry and exit for over 20 million vehicles annually across these popular malls.
Will Parking Fees Increase?
Majid Al Futtaim has reassured shoppers that parking fees will remain unchanged despite the implementation of this new system.
“We have introduced the barrierless parking system in three of our most visited malls, and importantly, there is no change in parking fees. We are not considering any fee increases,” stated Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, in a previous interview with Khaleej Times.
Free Parking & Validation Benefits
At City Centre Deira, parking is free for the first three hours.
At Mall of the Emirates, parking is free for the first four hours.
Shoppers exceeding free parking hours can get their tickets validated by making a minimum spend at the mall.
Validation options include:
Spending Dh150 in the mall qualifies for free parking extension.
Purchasing tickets at Vox Cinemas or Ski Dubai grants an additional two hours of free parking.
Overnight parking (6 AM – 6 AM) is prohibited, with a fine of Dh200 for violations.
Free parking on weekends and public holidays remains unchanged.

Fines & Payment Policies
According to Mall of the Emirates’ website, parking fees must be settled within two days to avoid penalties. Failure to pay within this timeframe will result in a Dh150 fine. Parking in unauthorized areas or spaces requiring a permit without validation will incur a Dh1,000 fine.
“If payment is not completed within two days, an SMS reminder will be sent, followed by a phone call on the third day. A Dh150 fine will be applied after three days. Vehicles parked in unauthorized spaces will be fined Dh1,000,” stated Majid Al Futtaim.
How the New Barrierless Parking Works
Dubai’s latest smart parking system leverages license plate recognition technology to simplify the process:
Upon arrival, cameras automatically track vehicles’ license plates.
When exiting, the system calculates applicable fees and sends an SMS notification with a payment link.
Payments can be made instantly through a web-based platform.
Shoppers can also link their account to Parkin’s wallet for quicker transactions.
