Dubai: Cinema at popular mall ‘permanently closed’

The cinema at Dubai’s Ibn Battuta Mall has been “permanently closed,” Khaleej Times has confirmed.

A mall visitor on Friday noticed large boards covering the area where the cinema used to be. “I was surprised to see it closed. It was our favorite cinema because it was less crowded than other theaters, and they always showed the movies my son loves,” said the Al Ghadeer resident.

A call center representative from Nakheel, the company managing Ibn Battuta Mall, confirmed that the Novo Cinemas outlet at the mall has been “permanently closed since July 31.”

However, it remains unclear if another cinema chain will take its place, as the call center staff had no further information about the closure.

A quick Google search now shows a “permanently closed” status for Novo Cinemas at Ibn Battuta Mall, and the location has been removed from the cinema chain’s official website.

This cinema was particularly popular among residents of Dubai’s southern communities, including Discovery Gardens, Jebel Ali, and Al Furjan.
