Dubai: RTA hikes minimum top-up amount for Nol card to Dh50

Starting August 17, the minimum top-up for Nol cards at Metro station ticket offices will increase from Dh20 to Dh50, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on X on Friday. However, this change does not affect commuters who top up their cards online.

“Starting August 17, 2024, the minimum top-up at Metro station ticket offices will increase to AED 50,” the RTA stated in the post.

Back in January, the RTA had already raised the minimum top-up from Dh5 to Dh20.

Commuters are required to have a balance of at least Dh15 on their Nol card to cover a round trip on the Metro transit network.

The Nol card, a prepaid smart card, is used to pay for public transport across Dubai, including the Dubai Metro, buses, trams, and waterbuses. It can also be used for taxi fares, parking, entry to Dubai public parks, the Etihad Museum, and payments at over 2,000 shops, restaurants, and stores throughout the city.
