Dubai: Salik denies viral rumours of ‘dynamic’ toll fees of up to Dh8

Dubai’s toll operator, Salik, has refuted a widely circulated social media message claiming the imminent introduction of dynamic pricing for toll gates in the emirate.

In an official statement published on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) website, Salik CEO Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad said, “We wish to clarify that the reports being shared on certain social media platforms are inaccurate.”

Al Haddad emphasized the importance of relying solely on official channels for updates, advising customers and shareholders to refer to the DFM and Salik’s website (www.salik.ae) for any announcements. “Salik is fully committed to the disclosure and transparency guidelines established by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and DFM. Any significant information will be shared with the market promptly, once confirmed and finalized.”

New Salik Gates to be Operational Soon
Meanwhile, Dubai’s toll network is expanding with the introduction of the 10th Salik gate, located at Al Safa South between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street. Although the gate is installed, it is not yet operational.

Another new toll gate, the ninth in the emirate, is situated on the Business Bay Crossing along Al Khail Road. In an exclusive interview with *Khaleej Times* in September, Haddad confirmed that both gates will be operational by the end of November. “A formal announcement will be made by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Salik PJSC prior to the start of operations,” he added.

Salik continues to play a pivotal role in Dubai’s transport infrastructure. Last year, around 593 million journeys passed through the city’s toll gates. From January to June this year, 238.5 million trips were recorded through the eight toll gates, generating Dh1.1 billion in revenue—up 5.6% from the same period last year.
