Dubai Introduces Variable Salik and Parking Tariffs to Streamline Traffic Flow
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the rollout of Variable Salik Toll Pricing and Variable Parking Tariff Policies aimed at enhancing traffic management and improving mobility across the city. These initiatives will also include event-specific parking tariffs, designed to ease congestion during high-demand periods.
Variable Salik Toll Pricing: Starting January 2025
Beginning January 2025, Salik tolls will vary based on the time of day:
- Peak hours (6am – 10am and 4pm – 8pm, weekdays): Dh6 per crossing.
- Off-peak hours (10am – 4pm and 8pm – 1am): Dh4 per crossing.
- Late-night hours (1am – 6am): Toll-free.
- Sundays: Dh4 all day (toll-free from 1am to 6am), except on public holidays and during major events.
Variable Parking Tariff: Launching March 2025
Starting March 2025, a Variable Parking Tariff Policy will apply, particularly in high-demand areas:
- Premium parking spaces (8am – 10am and 4pm – 8pm): Dh6 per hour.
- Standard parking spaces: Dh4 per hour during peak hours.
- Off-peak hours (10am – 4pm and 8pm – 10pm): Tariffs remain unchanged.
- Free parking: From 10pm to 8am and all day on Sundays.
Event-Specific Congestion Pricing Policy: February 2025
From February 2025, a Dh25 per hour parking fee will be applied near event zones, starting with the Dubai World Trade Centre during major events. This congestion pricing policy aims to manage increased vehicle flow and ensure smoother traffic movement in and around high-traffic areas.
These strategic initiatives reflect Dubai’s ongoing commitment to adopting dynamic solutions to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve overall urban mobility.
