In an electrifying IPL 2025 encounter on Friday night, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) delivered a clinical performance to defend a challenging total of 203 and secured a 12-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Despite a strong fightback led by Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir, the five-time IPL champions fell short in their chase, ending at 191/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 203 for victory, Mumbai Indians’ top order crumbled early, losing Will Jacks (5 off 7) and Ryan Rickelton (10 off 5) within the first 10 balls of the innings. The team looked in trouble at 17/2, but Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive 67 off 43 balls kept them in the hunt.
Naman Dhir also impressed with a brisk 46 off 24 balls, while Hardik Pandya (28 off 16) and Tilak Varma (25 off 23) chipped in with handy contributions.
In a dramatic 19th over, Tilak Varma was retired out with 24 runs needed off 7 balls, a bold move that didn’t quite pay off. Mitchell Marsh smashed 60 off 31 balls, hitting 9 boundaries and 2 sixes before falling to Vignesh Puthur. Markram played the anchor, scoring a vital 53 off 38 deliveries with 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Although Nicholas Pooran (12) and Rishabh Pant (2) failed to fire, Ayush Badoni (30 off 19) and David Miller (27) added crucial runs in the middle and death overs.
