Dubai Introduces AI-Powered, Ticketless Parking for a Seamless Experience
Dubai has taken another step towards smart mobility with the introduction of a fully automated, hassle-free parking system in select areas of the city. The innovative parking solution eliminates the need for tickets, meters, or manual payments—motorists can simply drive in, park, and drive out while sensors and AI-powered cameras automatically register their vehicle plate numbers and calculate the corresponding parking fees.
Smart Parking at Palm Jumeirah
Dubai’s East Crescent at Palm Jumeirah, between Rixos and Anantara Hotels, is among the latest areas to benefit from this cashless and ticketless parking system. Implemented by Parkonic, a private operator, the smart parking system has been in effect since 2022, initially offering cashless meters before transitioning to this barrier-free parking solution.
This system operates independently of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Parkin PJSC, providing an alternative high-tech parking experience for residents and visitors.
How Dubai’s Smart Parking System Works
- Upon arrival, vehicles are instantly detected by AI-powered sensors and on-ground cameras (placed at 1.5 feet tall).
- The cameras automatically scan the front and rear licence plates, registering the time of entry without requiring drivers to input details manually.
- No need for parking tickets, meters, or SMS payments—everything is digitally recorded, making the process smooth and completely contactless.
- The system eliminates the risk of losing tickets or waiting in long queues at payment kiosks.
According to Parkonic,
“Your licence plate is your access—just park and go. The system is barrier-free, ticketless, and seamless, ensuring effortless entry and exit.”
