Saudi Arabia Condemns Israeli Escalation in Gaza and Attacks on Civilian Shelters
In a powerful statement issued on Friday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the repeated attacks on civilian shelters in Gaza. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the continued targeting of defenseless civilians, including women and children, amidst the intensifying conflict in Palestine.
According to the official statement, Saudi Arabia specifically denounced the bombing of the Dar Al Arqam School, a known shelter for displaced Palestinians in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of innocent civilians.
Saudi Cultural Warehouse Targeted in Rafah
The statement also revealed that Israeli occupation forces had destroyed a warehouse belonging to the Saudi Centre for Culture and Heritage, located in the Morag area, east of Rafah. The facility housed critical medical supplies designated to support patients and the injured in the Gaza Strip.
This attack marks a significant violation of international humanitarian law, as it directly impacts aid infrastructure meant for civilian use and humanitarian relief.
Call for International Accountability
Saudi Arabia emphasized the urgent need for international accountability mechanisms to deter further Israeli aggression. The Ministry highlighted that the lack of global enforcement has allowed Israeli authorities to persist in violating international law, thereby escalating tensions and undermining regional and global stability.
“The absence of meaningful international deterrents has emboldened the Israeli occupation to continue its violations unchecked,” the statement noted.
The Kingdom reiterated its call for the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action and fulfill its responsibilities by putting an end to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy faced by the Palestinian people.
Regional and Global Implications
As one of the key players in Middle East diplomacy, Saudi Arabia’s stance on the Gaza crisis reflects growing frustration across the Arab world regarding the international community’s inaction. The Kingdom has long advocated for a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The latest developments raise fresh concerns over the stability of the region, especially as civilian casualties continue to rise and infrastructure is systematically destroyed.
