Sharjah’s Safeer Mall to Reopen as ‘Mark & Save Mall’ with Over Dh1 Billion Redevelopment Plan
A major transformation is underway in the heart of Sharjah, as the iconic Safeer Mall on Etihad Road (E11)—a vital corridor connecting Dubai and Sharjah—is being redeveloped and rebranded as Mark & Save Mall, according to the Western International Group.
The announcement follows the mall’s official handover from Safeer Group of Companies earlier this year. Built in 2005, the landmark mall had been a favorite shopping and meeting destination for Sharjah residents and Dubai commuters for nearly two decades.
Mark & Save Mall: A New Shopping Destination for Sharjah and Dubai Shoppers
The newly rebranded Mark & Save Mall will offer a next-generation retail experience designed to cater to modern consumer needs. Located just minutes from Dubai’s border, this revamped shopping hub will feature Sharjah’s largest indoor family entertainment zone, diverse dining outlets, a hypermarket, and a fully equipped fitness center.
According to Nawas Basheer KP, Director of Western International Group, the renovation is part of a bold vision to introduce a modern, high-value retail concept to the Sharjah and Dubai retail market.
“Our aim is to completely transform the customer experience with a layout that prioritizes convenience, design, and flow,” said Basheer. “The upcoming mall will align with the lifestyle expectations of both Sharjah residents and Dubai commuters.”
Massive Mall Redevelopment in Sharjah: No Demolition, But Full Interior Overhaul
The mall will undergo extensive renovation, though not a complete demolition. Structural enhancements, exterior redesign, and complete infrastructure upgrades are part of the plan. The 18-month redevelopment will temporarily shut down operations inside the mall, with formal eviction notices issued to the remaining shop owners.
Basheer confirmed that legal permits and renovation approvals have been secured, and the team is working closely with UAE authorities to ensure compliance with Sharjah Municipality and UAE construction regulations.
“This is not just a makeover. It’s a full-scale transformation to bring one of Sharjah’s most visited malls in line with international standards,” said Basheer.
Impact on Tenants and Temporary Relocations
Currently, a handful of shops are still operating inside the mall. Western International Group has expressed its intention to support current tenants through the transition, offering the possibility of future collaboration once the mall reopens.
Boost to Sharjah’s Economy and Job Creation Across the UAE
One of the key highlights of this project is its economic impact on Sharjah and Dubai. The mall’s redevelopment—backed by over Dh1 billion in investment—is expected to generate hundreds of new job opportunities across retail, entertainment, hospitality, logistics, and facility management.
“This project is not just about shopping. It’s about creating lasting value for Sharjah’s residents and contributing to the UAE’s retail and employment landscape,” Basheer added.
Strategic Location: A Shopping Magnet Between Sharjah and Dubai
Situated on the high-traffic Etihad Road (E11), which connects Dubai to Sharjah, the mall’s location is ideal for residents of both emirates. The daily footfall potential is immense, with over 100,000 vehicles using the stretch every day—making it one of the most strategic mall locations in the UAE.
This redevelopment also aligns with Sharjah’s ongoing push to revamp its infrastructure, attract new investments, and enhance its appeal as a retail and lifestyle hub just a short drive from Dubai’s major residential communities.

Legacy Meets the Future: Safeer Mall’s Transformation Begins
The original Safeer Mall served Sharjah’s diverse community for 19 years and was a recognizable landmark for expats, families, and commuters driving between Dubai and Sharjah.
“Safeer Mall was iconic in its time,” Basheer concluded. “But we’re now stepping into a new era of retail—one designed for today’s generation of shoppers across the UAE.”
