**Special Court to Address Property Disputes for Overseas Pakistanis, Including Dubai Residents**
A dedicated court will soon be established to resolve property disputes faced by overseas Pakistanis, according to a statement from Pakistan’s mission in the UAE on Saturday. This new initiative comes as a response to the increasing number of legal challenges that Pakistanis living abroad, particularly in Dubai, the UAE, and other GCC countries, face regarding their property investments in Pakistan.
Many Pakistanis residing in the UAE and Gulf region invest heavily in Pakistan’s real estate sector, and a significant portion of them encounter legal disputes. With over nine million Pakistanis living overseas, remittances play a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves. In 2023 alone, overseas Pakistanis, led by those living in Gulf countries, sent $27 billion back home, with the UAE and Saudi Arabia being the top contributors.
The *Establishment of Special Court Act 2024*, passed by Pakistan’s National Assembly and Senate, aims to safeguard the interests of these expatriates. The special court will specifically handle property dispute cases for the Pakistani diaspora, ensuring a faster and more efficient process.
**Speedy Resolution of Cases in 90 Days**
Cases filed in this special court will be resolved within 90 days, ensuring quick justice for Pakistanis living in Dubai and other parts of the world. The court will allow petitions to be filed through a digital platform, making it easier for overseas Pakistanis to initiate legal proceedings from abroad.
Additionally, evidence can be presented via video links or other legally accepted methods, overseen by officials from Pakistan’s high commissions or consulates, including those based in Dubai. This initiative is set to offer much-needed relief and protection for the property investments of Pakistanis abroad.
