This major Dubai road will be closed this weekend

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a warning to drivers about a significant road closure in Dubai that will last for two weeks.

The closure is due to maintenance work on the Dubai–Al Ain Road, which will be completely shut down starting Friday, August 9. However, the closure will only occur on weekends between 1 AM and 10 AM, and traffic will be diverted during these times.

If you’re entering Dubai from Al Ain, you’ll need to take the free right exit onto Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road towards Hatta and then make a U-turn at the first roundabout to head back towards Dubai.

If you’re heading towards Al Ain from Dubai, you’ll need to take the free right exit onto Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road towards Jebel Ali Port and make a U-turn at the first roundabout to return towards Dubai.

The RTA also cautioned motorists to expect a month of delays due to maintenance work being conducted on the bridge at the fifth intersection with Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road on the Dubai–Al Ain Road in both directions.

These delays will begin today (Friday, August 9) and continue until Monday, September 9. Fortunately, the work is scheduled to take place between 10 PM and 6 AM daily, minimizing disruptions during peak travel times.

The RTA is undertaking several road improvement projects aimed at easing Dubai’s notorious traffic and shortening journey times within the city.

In July, the authority announced a similar project on Emirates Road, affecting drivers traveling towards Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Hatta.
