Residents in the UAE should brace for a few foggy days ahead, particularly when traveling on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi road.
An expert from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) advises caution while driving, especially when fog alerts are issued by the country’s weather department.
Over the past few days, unstable weather conditions have brought heavy rains and hail to the country’s mountainous regions, with Wadi Hilo in Sharjah experiencing severe weather on Monday.
In a Tuesday interview with Khaleej Times, Dr. Ahmed Habib, a climate expert at the NCM, stated, “We expect fog to form in the coming days between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and in some Western areas. Drivers should heed alerts and exercise caution in these conditions.”
“We are currently under high pressure with unstable conditions, leading to increased humidity levels. This will result in particularly humid nights and early mornings, with fog likely to form during morning hours.”
Additionally, on Monday, the Kalba Shokah Road in the Eastern Region of the UAE experienced moderate rainfall, while light rain fell near Shawka-Al Muinai Road in Ras Al Khaimah.
The weather department also issued an orange alert recently due to the formation of convective clouds, which could bring rain and occasional strong winds, causing blowing dust.
“Due to the high humidity, it still feels extremely hot. Although temperatures are around 45-46 degrees Celsius, the intense humidity makes it feel even hotter,” he added.
