UAE: Paid holiday announced for public sector on Prophet’s birthday in Dubai

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources in Dubai issued a circular on Saturday announcing a public holiday to mark Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

According to the authority, the holiday for the federal government will be observed on Sunday, September 15, in line with the UAE Cabinet’s decision regarding official holidays for the year.

In Dubai, as well as other Gulf countries, the Prophet’s birthday is traditionally celebrated on 12 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1444, the third month of the Islamic calendar.

Following this holiday, UAE residents can look forward to an extended break in December for National Day. With December 2 and 3 falling on a Monday and Tuesday, respectively, residents will enjoy a four-day holiday when combined with the weekend.
