UAE public holidays 2025 revealed: Why you could get more days off next year

Already dreaming about your next big holiday? So are we! To help you start planning, the UAE public holidays for 2025 have already been announced.

It looks like there will be at least 12 public holidays in the UAE in 2025, with the possibility of an additional day off if Ramadan lasts 30 days, as it did in 2024.

The early announcement was made in May through the UAE’s official gazette after a review of several federal laws in the constitution.

A new resolution, outlined in part two of UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, introduced changes to how some public holidays will be scheduled starting next year.

According to the resolution, if a holiday falls on the weekend, it “may be carried over by a Cabinet decision to the beginning or end of the week.” However, this does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha. If a public holiday lands on a Saturday or Sunday, an extra day off could be granted on the preceding Friday or the following Monday.

For example, if this resolution had been in place this year, we might have had Friday or Monday off for Islamic New Year since it fell on a weekend.

The laws concerning labor relations, human resources, and public holidays were reviewed and led to this resolution, which applies to both the private and public sectors in the UAE.

This resolution on public holidays will take effect from Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

While the exact dates for some holidays will depend on moon sightings, we do know the occasions we’ll be observing.
