The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow warning for fresh winds causing blowing dust on Saturday, August 17, with most of the country expected to experience generally fair weather that could become partly cloudy at times.
The NCM also cautioned about reduced horizontal visibility until 8:00 p.m. today.
Earlier this morning, the weather department warned motorists about poor visibility due to fog formation.
A red alert was issued, warning residents of deteriorating horizontal visibility, which could drop further until 8:30 a.m.
In a post on X, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to exercise caution due to reduced visibility caused by the fog and to follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
Meanwhile, light rain and heavy drizzles were reported in some parts of the UAE. Videos posted by Storm Centre showed heavy drizzles and light rain along the country’s eastern coast.
Most UAE residents can expect fair weather on Saturday, though it could become partly cloudy at times, especially in the southern areas. Low clouds are also expected to appear over the eastern coast today.
These low clouds might bring rain, as seen in videos posted by Storm Centre showing light rain on the eastern coast.
The NCM also mentioned that residents can expect humid conditions by night, likely continuing into Sunday morning, with a chance of fog or mist formation in some internal and coastal areas, particularly in the western regions.
Light to moderate winds, occasionally freshening, are expected to cause dust and sand, particularly in the northern and eastern areas.
The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf, while the Oman Sea may be slight to moderate, with the possibility of becoming rough at times.
