Watch: Moderate rains hit Dubai, hail in other emirates as orange alert issued

Moderate rainfall swept across Dubai on Monday afternoon, while other parts of the UAE, including some areas experiencing heavy rains and hail, were also affected.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an orange alert due to the formation of convective clouds linked to rainfall, with the alert remaining active until 9 PM today.

Earlier in the day, rain showers were reported in different regions of the UAE, as the weather department forecasted precipitation in certain internal and southern areas of the country.

On social media, the NCM issued a warning to residents about heavy rains in parts of Ras Al Khaimah. Wadis in the northern emirate revived as rainfall led to water flowing through Ghalila’s reefs.

Today’s showers are expected to be accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h. These winds may stir up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility to less than 3,000 meters, particularly in eastern and northern areas.

On Sunday, residents in Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah witnessed rain showers, with light drizzles and hail reported along Sharjah’s Al Dhaid Road.

The National Centre of Meteorology had earlier issued both orange and yellow weather alerts for these northern emirates.

The rainy spell across the UAE follows the NCM’s forecast for rainfall continuing until September 30, as the country transitions into cooler temperatures. This change aligns with the autumn equinox on September 22, signaling the end of Dubai’s summer season.
